Can you help me with this? I’m attempting to overclock my AMD FX8320 right now. I’m running Prime95 on it and have CPUID open.
The interesting thing is that I keep seeing the CPU VCORE voltage jumping between .840v and 1.4v (max I set it to) and every couple of seconds I’m hearing what sounds like an hard disk moving... but none of them are :/
Help?

First thing is first... what cooler are you using?

Are you building a gaming rig or a coin miner?

an Antec Kuhler H2O 620 120mm liquid cooler with two NZXT 120mm fans in push/pull
just felt the back of the tower and there is a nice warm (hot) spot right behind the CPU

How much are you OC’ing and how are you doing it? Does your BIOS support it natively? That’s the best way to go about.

4.2 ghz vs 3.5 stock using the multiplier in the BIOS
Yes, it supports it, its a 990FX board designed for overclocking (Asrock 990FX Killer)

Try lowering it to 4GHz and see what happens.

I’m not really an OC expert and I’ve never messed around with a water cooling rig, sorry. I can point you to ##hardware on irc.freenode.net if you wish.

Too bad isn’t not for mining. You could have changed your name to ‘CAcoinminer’.

Hm, it didn’t do much... everytime I hear the noise though the voltage drops to .84 from 1.3v
